Everything in your life informs you what your purpose is. How do you know it’s your purpose? It feels like it’s the right space for you. It feels like ‘This is what I should be doing; this is where I feel most myself.' – Oprah Winfrey
Recently, I had the immense privilege of being interviewed by an expert panel, where I had the opportunity to pour my heart out about a topic that has grown close to my soul over these last couple of years – feminine hygiene, health and wellness. This journey, peppered with the trials and triumphs of battling endometriosis, has been the driving force behind my passion project, "The Endo - My Life," and the birth of "EndoWarriorH." It has been an incredible ride, and today, I'm eager to share a snippet of this invigorating experience with all of you.
It's important to note that though the outcome of this panel interview holds immense significance for the path I'm carving, I find myself surprisingly less consumed by the potential result. This opportunity, while undoubtedly monumental, won't sway my steadfast commitment to my ultimate mission. My dedication to empowering and guiding young girls and women through open conversations about feminine health and wellness remains unshakable. This journey is a calling, a beacon guiding me to forge ahead, regardless of the immediate outcome. The story I'm crafting shall unfold with unwavering determination, impacting lives as it unravels.
So, buckle up as we embark on a journey that encompasses purpose, empowerment, and the unwavering strength of an endo warrior.
In the quiet corners of my introverted soul, lies a fire that ignites when I become an advocate for a cause I deeply care about. My journey with endometriosis has been one of pain and resilience, but it has also revealed my raison d'être – a purpose that has led me to fight for what's right and uplift those in need. Today, I want to share how my battle with endometriosis has empowered me to be an advocate for other women and young girls, inspiring change and making a difference in their lives.
My journey with endometriosis has been marked by various ups and downs, both physically and emotionally. The relentless pain and unpredictable symptoms led me on a quest to learn more about this often misunderstood illness and other issues that other women and young girls battle with in our society. Through reading articles, connecting with other women and fellow endo warriors, and sharing our experiences, I gained valuable insights into the challenges we face daily. These encounters have instilled in me an unwavering commitment to become an advocate for those struggling with health issues, regardless of age.
Since my teenage years, I've always had a soft spot for giving back and helping others. Whether volunteering at local charities or participating in fundraisers, the fulfilment that comes from making a positive impact on someone's life has been my guiding light. My journey with endometriosis only amplified this desire to make a difference, especially among women and girls who are often underrepresented and overlooked in society.
At my workplace, I am fortunate to be part of a team that works on campaigns that highlight the positive impact we're making in the lives of women and girls. As we work on campaigns centred around gender equality, health, and education, I find myself fully immersed in these projects, eager to contribute to meaningful change. The experiences within my professional life have nurtured my secret dream of leading initiatives focused solely on women's empowerment, both within my current work environment and through the foundation I'm nurturing.
Among the many remarkable women who inspire me, there are three who hold a special place in my heart:
Helen Grant - The UK Prime Minister's Special Envoy for Girls Education. Helen is a trailblazer leading the UK's efforts to ensure that every girl receives 12 years of quality education. Her vision is to drive a global campaign that aims to improve learning and get 40 million more girls into school by 2025. I am captivated by her unwavering determination to make education accessible for all.
Michelle Obama - As the former First Lady of the United States, Michelle's impact transcends borders. Her commitment to empowering women and promoting equal rights is awe-inspiring. Through various initiatives, she has championed better education for girls, encouraged healthy living, and supported families living in poverty – causes close to my heart.
Hlubi Mboya Arnold - A dynamic social-justice activist and a voice for the voiceless, Hlubi's passion for making a positive impact on society resonates with me deeply. Her dedication to advocating for the rights of the vulnerable and marginalised serves as a constant reminder of the power of genuine compassion and empathy.
I must acknowledge that as clichéd as it may be, I'm certain most readers expected to see the illustrious Oprah Winfrey on my list of inspiring women, and rightfully so! Oprah is an icon, a symbol of strength, and an embodiment of empowerment. Her transformative impact on countless lives is undeniable, and she is, without a doubt, one of my biggest inspirations. Oprah's dedication to amplifying the voices of the unheard, her unwavering commitment to social change, and her relentless pursuit of justice are qualities I deeply admire. So, yes, Oprah is on my list, and her influence on my journey is undeniable. Nonetheless, my passion for empowering women and girls extends beyond just one or three names, and there are many more inspiring women that I'd love to work with and learn from, as we unite to create a brighter future for all our girls.
My journey with endometriosis has transformed me into an advocate for women and girls, embracing my purpose to inspire positive change in their lives. Somedays may be hard, but my passion for uplifting and empowering others pushes me to press forward. As I continue to grow, learn, and work towards making a difference, I invite you to join me on this inspiring journey. Together, let's lift each other up and create a world where women and girls thrive, empowered by the strength of unity and purpose. Remember, your struggles can be the catalyst for purpose, and by sharing our stories and supporting one another, we can be beacons of hope and inspiration for those around us.
In the depths of my heart, there burns a relentless desire to inspire, positively influence, and deeply impact the lives of young girls and women. My purpose-driven journey is fuelled by an unwavering commitment to fostering open dialogues about feminine hygiene, women's health, and overall wellness. I firmly believe that these essential discussions lay the foundation for self-love and empower individuals to embrace their unique identities and live a life where they are free to just be. For me, it all begins with a pivotal moment in every girl's life - her first period.
This profound moment marks the start of an incredible narrative that shapes a girl's perception of herself, her body, and her worth. I am determined to make this narrative one of strength, knowledge, and empowerment, as I strive to create a world where every woman and young girl finds her voice, her power, and her sense of self-worth. This is not just a journey; it's a calling, and I am ready to stand at the forefront, leading the charge for a brighter, more liberated tomorrow. Together, let us break down barriers, shatter stigmas, and uplift the spirit of every young girl and woman, so they can embrace their journey with confidence, love, and authenticity. The story begins here, and I am honoured to be part of it.
